FILA INDIA x NBNW

FILA in its partnership with NORBLACK NORWHITE, has become the first global brand to collaborate on an entire sportswear collection with an Indian streetwear brand. India always had a rich tradition of handcrafted textiles as does Italy. India also has a vibrant streetwear scene that is growing. What better way to pay homage to both, than for FILA, the iconic Italian sports-fashion brand than to create it’s first ever Heritage collaboration with indie streetwear brand NORBLACK NORWHITE?

FILA has always been innovative. From its humble textile beginnings in Biella, Italy in 1911 until the present. In 1973, FILA made a bold statement by introducing colour to the tennis court. Commitment to performance & sophistication has always been at the forefront of the FILA philosophy.

NORBLACK NORWHITE is a design house and cultural platform with its beginnings rooted in the immigrant communities of Toronto. Living in India for the past decade, NBNW realized it’s brand by exploring culture & creativity through craft, colour, & patterns.

NBNW’s Mriga Kapadiya & Amrit Kumar were super excited when Fila first approached them about the collaboration and admitted they never have designed athletic wear. They further stated, “Creating within the FILA form and brand has taken us out of our comfort zone and pushed the boundaries on our design capacity.”

FILA India’s Creative Director, Abdon Lepcha worked closely with NBNW for almost a year to design its limited edition collection. Iconic FILA silhouettes were fused with NBNW signature colours, prints and patterns. The collaboration is a fusion of Indian streetwear with sports fashion. The collection which debuted November 2018 exclusively in stores in India, features baseball jerseys, tracksuits, fanny packs, tees and a special edition Disruptor.
