Over the coming weeks, we are going to take a look at the Burberry Brit collection for AW/13. Described as a slightly more casual range yet still retaining all of the sophistication you would expect, Brit oozes with London cool. Here we take a look at the huge range of coats and jackets, including the infamous Burberry Trench and lots more besides. Expect the finest of tailoring, whilst using the latest technology and fabrics for an outstanding collection that is often inspired by the original heritage designs.

After the wonderful ‘Owls‘ collaboration with Topman earlier this year, we couldn’t resist featuring some of the latest pieces from imaginative design duo, Agi & Sam. Adopting their usual quirky prints and style with inspiration from traditional Britishness, the attention to detail with use of premium materials and British manufacturing make this a collection to shout about. We’ve included links to shop for each item, all available from Oki-ni.
Perfect for the British Autumn/Winter, this rich burgundy coat with oversized tartan check pattern on the reverse is both stylish and functionals. Tailored in England from premium wool with an oversized fit. The coat has a detachable hood with raglan shoulder seams and is fully lined. Beautiful!
With a tailored design and regular fit, the quirky print on this shirt features cracked pottery, inspired by Agi & Sam’s interpretation of Willow patterned porcelain.

On the final day of London Collections SS14, our editor’s visited the Richard James showroom in Saville Row, who had joined forces with Wedgwood, another British brand that is synonomous with craftsmanship, to bring us a special afternoon of classic afternoon tea and chocolates.
“I love the ritual of tea. It’s something I look forward to every afternoon; there’s something reassuring and reassuringly British about it. It’s a truism that tea tastes better from good china, as it is that it’s better for warming the pot and using only freshly drawn, freshly boiled water. It’s an altogether satisfying process and not unlike my work as tailor, you’re rewarded for using quality materials and not cutting corners.” – Richard James
Our Editor-in-Chief had High Mountain Oolong Tea, originating from Taiwan’s high mountains – and he tried Rose Petal Msala Marzipan by Paul A Young Chocolate with this – mouth-watering! Our Fashion Editor was tempted by her favourite Earl Grey, grown in Darjeeling, India. With this she sampled Pacari Raw 85% Ecuadorian Classic truffle by Paul A Young Chocolate, and left her wanting more! The tea was of course served by impeccable staff in Wedgwood White fine-bone China tea-ware. A design classic since the 1920’s.
All in all, a great experience and unique way to show us around the beautiful showroom. We took a few snapshots to share with you and at the bottom of this post we’ve included a must-see Richard James ‘B-Roll’ behind the scenes video from SS14 LCM – with more than a few familiar faces in attendance. Later that evening, Client’s founder/editor, Ian Cole was also excited to shoot the front cover of a special London Collections Client Style Guide with model Allen Taylor at Select wearing full-look Richard James, styled by our fashion editor Marie-Claude Lamb. Classic tailoring meets Cool Brit! Previews of this to follow…
Christopher Raeburn’s is renowned for working with sustainable fabrics and for his holistic approach to design. For his SS14 show at London Collections: MEN, he chose to partner with Timberland for their footwear, a company that has similar ethical views. Many would agree that the Timberland boot is a staple to many a man’s wardrobe, and recognised as a global outdoor lifestyle brand.
Raeburn’s collection was inspired by the stoic men of World War Two’s Long Range Desert Group, and driven by the development and utilisation of textiles – including re-purposed surplus military fabrics. Timberland’s ‘The Earthkeepers Adventure Cupsole Chukka’ is built with leather from a Silver-rated tannery and sits on a sole made from recycled plastic bottles. Using Timberland technology, this modern take on a classic ensures a comfortable fit, breathable and is environmentally conscious.
Andy Hewat, Country Manager for Timberland UK & Ireland elaborates “Christopher Raeburn is a very talented designer and we are excited and honoured that he has chosen our Earthkeeper Adventure Cupsole Chukka for his Spring/Summer 2014 show. Christopher’s pioneering work to publicise sustainability mirrors our ethical stance and dedication to equip people to make a difference in their world”
We’re pleased to share with you a video interview with Christopher Raeburn, during his London Collections MEN SS14 show.
