Leica Gallery London: Nachson Mimran unveils “Photographs from the Decade That Changed My Life”


Stars graced the private view of Nachson Mimran’s inaugural solo exhibition, “Photographs from the Decade That Changed My Life,” at Leica Gallery London in Mayfair on Thursday 1st February 2024. The event, attended by luminaries including Naomi Campbell, Robbie Williams, Ed Westwick, Amy Jackson, Tinie Tempah, Yinka Ilori, Marc Quinn, and Gstaad Guy, marked a celebration of Mimran’s artistic journey and his philanthropic endeavours supporting displaced creatives in refugee settlements.

The exhibition, curated by Lou Proud of Leica Gallery London, showcases 17 prints capturing transformative moments from 2016 to 2023. Mimran’s lens takes viewers on a global odyssey, documenting diverse communities and landscapes from Bangladesh, Uganda, Ecuador, and Senegal to the Swiss Alps and the Mediterranean. The photographs transcend borders, offering a glimpse into the artist’s intentional use of art, culture, and creativity to ignite conversations on critical topics like climate change, human displacement, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Intimate family portraits seamlessly coexist with community portraits from refugee settlements, creating a tapestry of human connection and resilience. The exhibition serves as a visual invitation, urging patrons to contribute to the TO: Foundation, which supports opportunities for displaced creatives in refugee settlements.

The TO: Foundation’s recent initiative includes the launch of a Performing Arts Centre in Bidi Bidi refugee settlement at the close of 2023. Visitors donating £1,000 or more will receive a print of their choice as a token of appreciation, further cementing their role in supporting the cause.
