The streets may be quiet right now on London’s iconic Piccadilly, but that doesn’t mean everything has stopped – the development of ‘The Dilly’, is London’s newest independent 5* hotel. The property dates back to 1908 and as you would expect, has seen a lot of activity over the years. In the 1930s, London’s social elite enjoyed a swanky outdoor pool on the terrace which is now one of London’s largest indoor luxury pools within the new health club.

The new exterior and entrance have transformed the property and guests will be greeted by a luxurious new lobby, including a VIP check-in area on the mezzanine floor with a private lift to rooms and suites. Upgrades on the 255 bedrooms and 28 suites will be ongoing, but ready for the planned launch on April 1st, 2021*, 39 rooms refurbishments will be completed.
Due to the hotel’s prominent location, many of the bedrooms and suites enjoy views of Regent Street, Picadilly, and the world-famous West End, which is very helpful for theatregoers. For guests flying in for retail therapy, the hotel is opposite Fortnum & Mason and Europe’s largest bookstore Waterstones with Shaftsbury Avenue and Green Park on the doorstep.
Olivier adds: “At the core of our new story is the desire to represent London, whether that is through our new interior design, our food and beverage style driven by local suppliers, our knowledge of London experiences to share with our guests, our sustainable approach with local suppliers or our connections to the neighbourhood’s history and culture. We are determined to be different. Every one of our guests has chosen London for work or play and often both; they want to be at the heart of the action so our team will be able to share our in-the-know insights and contacts.”
Interiors inside the hotel include function rooms in the style of Louis XIV with detailed oak panelling and elegant Epoque chandeliers. One of London’s most famous banquet rooms is the Oak Room which will initially host Madhu’s Mayfair – a fine dining Indian restaurant featuring Punjabi cuisine with a Kenyan twist.
To stay sincere to the heritage of the hotel, every evening at 6 pm, a gong will announce the end of the day and the start of a fun-filled evening, one hopes!
